I got the fantastic opportunity to learn and work with some amazing people at the Actor's Connection Workshop in Los Angeles. This being my first trip to L.A. I had no idea what to expect, not to mention what the workshop would entail. Los Angeles lived up to all of my expectations, the food was expensive, there were palm trees everywhere, it was hot outside, and yet it seemed like everyone was cooler than me...I loved it. I'm from the Midwest so even on the hottest days it can't compare to the humidity in Missouri. Just being able to see less green and more sun alone was the best, not to mention apparently macaroons are a pretty regular thing over there? Weird. I also got to try Good Burger because literally everyone said I had to.

Besides getting to see what little I did of L.A., I was busy learning from some of the best Casting Directors and Talent Agents in the business. We prepared scenes, worked on commercial cuts, and work-shopped cold readings straight from the CD's. Some were picked for us specifically while some gave us the same scenes and let us be creative in how we differentiated from others in the room. It was an amazing experience. I met so many nice people and got to perform with some amazing actors and connect with them as well.

I have to thank my school the Dobbins Conservatory of Theatre and Dance for providing the opportunity, and the teachers who supported me. A special shout out goes to Roxanne Wellington for accompanying us on our journey. I also need to thank Christopher Dietrich who got us all together through Actor's Connection! I feel more prepared to start my career than ever before, and I can't wait to make the move to L.A.
